ROFLMAO!

Yeeeah. Riiiiight.

Troy: Why do we inflict this on ourselves?
Ben: Why? I'll tell you why, 'cause the Red Sox never let you down.
Troy: Huh?
Ben: That's right. I mean - why? Because they haven't won a World Series in a century or so? So what? They're here. Every April, they're here. At 1:05 or at 7:05, there is a game. And if it gets rained out, guess what? They make it up to you. Does anyone else in your life do that? The Red Sox don't get divorced. This is a real family. This is the family that's here for you.

Elinore is 81 years old, a wonderful mother and an avid Cubs fan. Dan recently entered her in a competition with 2700 people sponsored by the Chicago Cubs baseball organization to receive an audition. She did audition and was chosen with 49 others.

The following is her little bio.

Elinore T. from Palatine, IL - I have bled Cubbie Blue my whole life. I learned the game as a little girl from Pat Flanagan and later Bob Elson. I raised six children and there was not a day they came home that they did not here myself or Jack Brickhouse cheering about something exciting the Cubs had just done. In 81+ years I have not given up on them and it would be the thrill of my life to sing at Wrigly Field. It would be an honor.

If you would like to support Elinore Triner and thrill her son, Dan, please vote for her via:

***********UPDATE***************

Update until we vote again.

Hi Sister,
Here is an update on Mom.
This is the e-mail I sent about yesterday's audition for the 10 finalists.
Sorry it's a little long.
Thank-you again for all your help.
Voting starts again on Sept. 10th and goes for five days to the 14th.
All ten finalists will be featured for all five day's.
It should be fun.
If people don't think that God works through us to touch others they need to here about my Mom's experience.
He is using a lot of us here.
Have a wonderful day.

Hi Everyone.

I'll try to keep this short. I think by now I could write a book on what has taken place this past month or so.
It certainly would make a good mini series on T.V.

Well yesterday Mom and I spent the day at Wrigley Field for Mom's audition.
The final 10 were all there to give it their all for a shot at singing the 7th Inning Stretch at the Sept. 22nd game (Fan Appreciation Day). Really was a great group of people.
All very nice and very supportive of each other.
Mom did a fantastic job with her audition.
It was truely an unbelievable day. She was not quite sure she would feel comfortable with doing interviews with the press.
Well let me tell you. She figured it out in a hurry.
First it was a private spot with Comcast Sports Network out along the right field wall on the first base line. (She was on last night). The two announcers gave her their endorsement and said they were voting for her.
Next it was Cubs.com doing an interview at our lunch table. (See their site)
Shortly after it was The Daily Herald. (She's in there today).
Then a number of others I'm not sure who they all were. (The picture below is from the Chicago Tribune).
That was all before she even sang.
The sight of Mom walking in from the doors of the right field outfield to home plate is impossible to describe.
I can only feel incredible joy about what must have been going through her mind as she took those steps. How exciting. She was walking on the very field she had watched so many Cub moments take place. How many great players (not only Cubs) had taken that walk before her. Half way down the line she looked around herself trying to take it all in.
She was greeted at first base by one of the front office execs.
He escorted her to home plate for the moment of truth.
She did great with her interview from the panel.
She sang without a hitch. Then the fun started.
After they were all through, they were allowed to take pictures and talk with the celebrity panel.
Mom was like a kid in a candy store. She hugged and talked with Ernie Banks and Billy Williams like they were old buddies walking around the park.
She hugged and talked with Harry's wife Dutchie like they were catching up on old times.
Digger Phelps (Notre Dame) had a great time with her. He picked some Wrigley Field grass for Mom and I gave her a hand full of dirt from behind the home plate area. All that happened right in front of the head of the Cubs marketing and promotions department. (OPPPPS!) Oh well he didn't mind. He said they have a lot of dirt.
I told him I was just happy she did not bend down and pick some up while she was standing at home plate during the audition. I'm pretty sure Mom was tempted.
All in all it was a dream day for Mom.
What a blessing it was for Mom to be able to have that experience.
They were all given a major league baseball signed by the panel of judges as well as a framed picture of the sign on Wrigley Field at Clark & Addison that reads Wrigley Field Home of the Chicago Cubs. Below that it said "Congratulations Elinore Triner Ultimate Cub Fan 7th Inning Stretch Finalist.
I can't believe there is more to come, but there is.
Starting Sept.10th they will post the 10 finalists videos on www.cubs.com for another round of voting.
All 10 videos will be there for the entire week (Mon. thru Fri.).
We should be able to set a record with five day's to stuff the internet voting box.
I will send out a reminder before the start of the voting.
I am attaching a picture of Mom yesterday at Wrigley Field during her audition.
Look at the score board.
WOW what a day.
I can't imagine what the 22nd of Sept. is going to be like. (40 thousand plus fans for the one that will sing).
I'll have plenty of kleenex.
Thanks again for sharing this time with Mom (Elinore).
Sincerely,
Dan

So... Vote again! :D
